But don’t worry – the former King of Bavaria, King Ludwig II., will not occupy the centre stage at this team event. The Kubb Tournament in Munich is an ancient parlour game from Scandinavia, also called Vikings’ Chess. After a short introduction to the rules and the technique the participants will split into individual groups and try to knock over the wooden blocks (the so-called Kubb) of the other team. The main goal, however, is to overthrow the king thereby winning the game! How this can be managed? It is actually quite a tricky challenge since the king is being protected by his pawns. This is why you have to take care of them first so that the way is cleared for the king’s elimination. With a lot of team spirit, skill, communication and of course marksmanship you will certainly be successful! The team which has developed the best strategy and which manages to overthrow the king before the other team manages to do so, will be the winning team in the end and start the big party after the event!

Honour to whom honour is due

Even if the king of one team was defeated at this Vikings’ game, you still have to honour him – after all, he used to be the king! You can do that after the event in an exuberant atmosphere and with a delicious dinner in a Bavarian manner, for example with a typical Pork Roast or one or two dumplings. King Ludwig II. would have wanted it that way!
