Irish road bowling, also known as dike golfing or klootschieten, has been played in Northern Germany for hundreds of years. Even Theodor Storm once immortalised the sport of the Frisians in his famous novel The Rider on the White Horse. Some of the most beautiful road bowling routes can be found in and around Hannover: Hiking trails along the rivers Aller, Leine and Weser or even through the park at the Maschsee.
